All About Me

Hi there.

Firstly I’d like to thank you for taking time out of your day to look at my blog. I understand that there are literally thousands out there to choose from so for you to be here is very greatly appreciated. Here’s a bit about me.

So what makes my blog different from the rest?

My content will always be from my personal point of view, I will give my brutally honest opinion on things in an effort to get straight to the point. Time is precious, and that’s exactly my inspiration for starting this blog.

“Nobody is promised a tomorrow, yet so many of us do not live for today.”

A quote by nobody famous (it was actually by me), but if you stop to think about it actually holds a lot of truth. So much of our daily lives is taken up by such trivial things that we miss out on the simple pleasures that life can often provide.

Isn’t this page supposed to be about me?

Indeed, so here are the details…My name is Richard (But please call me Ricky). I’m a family man with a wife and 2 children and I’ve always strived to be the best version of me that I possibly can. Now I’m not going to lie to you and say that I have always succeeded because the truth is I haven’t. Up to this day life is still very much a series of ups and downs, however it is how we deal with life’s low points that enables us to appreciate the great moments when life smiles upon us. Given the choice it goes without saying that we all would choose to sail through life in a state of permanent bliss, yet even the most optimistic amongst us would agree this to be impossible.

You’re moving off topic!

Sorry about that, but I really want to give you the full lowdown on who I am and what has inspired me to begin blogging. I started my career off as a chef at a 4 star hotel in the town where I live. Years of slaving away in a hot kitchen during the times when I could’ve been out enjoying myself. Instead helping others to enjoy themselves creating meals that might leave a lasting impression. After a few years of doing this I realised it wasn’t for me. I’d recently met my future wife and thoughts turned to raising a family. Catering and hospitality is not the industry to be in when bringing up children, so I decided it was best to try my hand at something else.

A new year and a new career.

My father is a self-employed Plasterer by trade, so I was fortunate in that he was prepared to take me on as his labourer, and that is what I still call my day job. I’m not going to say it’s enabled me to live the life of my dreams, (it’s very hard manual work) but it hasn’t burdened me with the financial constraints that so many people are unfairly bound to. Although I am grateful to my father, I just cannot envision myself being a labourer for the rest of my life. So I’ve also studied hard in my free time in an effort to better myself.

So why the blog?

I have always had a great affinity with the written word, always loved reading and most importantly always listened when people have offered me advice (whether it was good advice is another matter). Now that I have been around long enough to gain a great deal of life experience I have decided that I want to help others to be the best they can be. Of course it would be naïve for me to say that I expect everybody who reads my posts to take and use my views as their own, this is never going to be the case. But what I sincerely hope is that my musings help to spark people’s imagination and give them something to think about. If they use my advice then of course that’s always a bonus, but just being here to read my thoughts (and hopefully comment too) is a good start.

Why should we listen to you?

Why not? My advice may not always be something you agree with, but it might help give a different perspective to an issue that I have faced and you too might be facing. Surely another perspective is a good thing?

I really want to be able to help everyone, from people who might be struggling and who need that little bit of extra motivation to get through their day to those who are doing well. I want to provide inspiration and determination and help give that little nudge that might give you the stimulation to push on and see you achieve your goals. It doesn’t matter if they are small goals or life changing goals. All I ask is if you do read a post and find it useful then please leave a comment. It will make all of this worthwhile.
